About The Chamber
Of Commerce
The Caribbean American
Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (CACCI), founded in August
1985, is a statewide membership organization, which has developed
expertise in providing business assistance to small and start-up
business owners, in areas of business planning, financing,
procurement, certification, expansion, and export/import
opportunities. CACCI’s extensive track record of service delivery,
established partnerships with government and private business
entities have enabled the organization to continue the following
initiatives:

Continue to
develop CACCI’s Headquarters, a 28,000 square foot facility,
Caribbean Trade Center/Business Incubator, located in the East
Flatbush Section of Brooklyn (corner of Bedford & Church
Avenues).

Continue to
manage and operate the Flatbush Caton Vendors Mart, a 9,000 sq.
ft. micro-enterprise incubator, an indoor facility in the
Flatbush section of Brooklyn.

Initiate
weekly CACCI/SCORE free on-site confidential small business
counseling services and technical assistance for CACCI members
and the wider small business community.

Establish
partnerships with CACCI members and with public and private
business entities which have contributed to the success of such
annual events as: Tribute to Rev. Dr. Martín Luther King
(January), Participation in Black and Puerto Rican Legislative
Business Forums (February), Seminar focusing on Certification
and Procurement Opportunities for Minority and Women Business
Enterprises (MWBE) (March), Annual Entrepreneur of the Year
Awards Gala (April), International Conference on Doing Business
with the United States and the Caribbean focusing on
Export/Import Opportunities (May), Celebration of Service to the
Business Community and Salute to Caribbean American Leadership
(August), Participation in Congressional Black Caucus
Legislative Business Forums (September), Doing Business with
NYC, NYS and US government agencies (October), Salute to Small
Business Visionaries (December).
CACCI Has Also Accomplished The Following:

Conducted
over 600 business development networking seminars and meetings,
attracting entrepreneurs and speakers from the public and
private sectors, business and community leaders, corporate
partners, CACCI members, Heads of State from the Caribbean and
other international leaders.

Hosted
international Heads of State and the Secretary General from
CARICOM.

Conducted
numerous trade missions in areas of health and business
investment in the Caribbean.
CACCI has sponsored trade missions, convened numerous business
meetings and held briefing sessions with several Heads of States
including: Prime Ministers P. J. Patterson, Jamaica, Dr. Keith
Mitchell, Grenada, Honorable Dr. Lowell Lewis, Chief Minister of
Montserrat, Ralph Gonsalves, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Dr.
Denzil Douglas, St Kitts and Nevis, Kenny Anthony, St. Lucia, Owen
Arthur, Barbados, Patrick Manning, Republic of Trinidad and Tobago,
Samuel Hinds, Guyana, Baldwin Spencer, Antigua and Barbuda, Portia
Miller Simpson, Jamaica, and several government officials and
ministers of Haiti. CACCI has also hosted H.E. Julian Robert Hunte,
then President of the 58th Session of the United Nations
General Assembly and Dr. Edwin Carrington, Secretary General of
CARICOM who is also the recipient of CACCI’s Roving Ambassador
Award.
CACCI has made considerable progress in the development of the first
ever Caribbean American Chamber Trade Center/Business Incubator in
New York State to be located in one of the busiest commercial
corridors in Central Brooklyn, New York City. CACCI recently
received official endorsements for The Caribbean Trade Center/
Business Incubator from Dr. Edwin Carrington, Secretary General of
the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) on behalf of the Caribbean Heads
of Government, and from Dr. Harold Robinson, Consul General from
Trinidad and Tobago and Chairman of the Association of Caribbean
Consular Corps in New York City on behalf of the Association,
Federation of the New York State Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and
the Haitian Centers Council.
CACCI has received commitments of support from the New York City
Mayor, New York State Governor and other elected officials, Brooklyn
Delegation of the New York City Council and the Brooklyn Borough
President. Numerous corporate members, its board of directors and
the CACCI membership have also supported this project. The Trade
Center/Business Incubator will house commercial anchor tenants,
offer an array of domestic and international business services and
programs, create jobs and promote trade, investment and cultural
opportunities between the United States, the Caribbean region and
other international communities.
